Gnome Series is a recent NFT trading card series on Wax that has been quickly building a following. The quirky trading cards feature a variety of gnomes and “gnomies” from the team of Nick and Nick, which parody everything from pop culture icons to memes. People have been collecting gnome figurines for decades, so it should come as no surprise to see them make the leap to digital collectibles.

We sat down with one of the Nicks to discuss Gnome Series in our interview below:
Wax Guide
How did you come up with the concept for your collection?
Nick
Long story short, there are two of us, both with the name Nick. The creator of the actual gnomes is an artist and has been creating these gnomes for stickers and the local area. Him and I go way back.
Well, I was on the Peloton and it had me thinking about the entire NFT concept. Why not utilize one of my best friends’ Gnomes into a NFT? So while mid-cycle, I called him up and explained to him what these things are, which went way over his head. I just said let me run this; just make those gnomes.
So slowly he started to understand it all, and we decided together to create a card format and turn it into a game for utilization.

Wax Guide
Do you have any details on the game or when it might come out?
Nick
We’re releasing it in about 4-6 months. The game will consist of utilizing the NFTs and trading cards. There will be different aspects of the game where utilizing the blockchain will make people want to come back, and that will create a higher demand for our project.
Wax Guide
Will it be a trading card game?
Nick
Yes, and a little bit more involvement to help make it extremely unique.
Wax Guide
Will the gameplay be similar to any trading card games that are currently out there?
Nick
Not really, it definitely will be a unique one. https://gnocity.com
Wax Guide
You said the other Nick was already creating gnome artwork for stickers. How long has he been creating gnome art? Any particular reason he’s into gnomes?
Nick
He loved to doodle his gnomes out. Just something that always stuck with him on his creative side. He has been publicly doing the gnome artwork for about 4 years now.
Wax Guide
And when did you start converting them to NFTs? How long has your collection been on Atomic Hub?
Nick
45 days 🙂
Wax Guide
What’s your experience been like on Wax/Atomic Hub? Did you consider any other blockchains?
Nick
We tried all the other platforms. Wasted so much money on gas fees. Finally landed at AtomicHub and fell in love. The fees, the ease and all .
Wax Guide
What’s your favorite NFT project besides your own?
Nick
Big fan of Eminem hopping into this space. I think his little packaged characters are a great project.
Wax Guide
Any advice for creators thinking of putting out their own collection of NFTs?
Nick
Grind away, build a community, don’t just focus on sales. Listen to the community with suggestions. Look at your competition. There should be tons of research completed before you start a series or collection.
